Maintenance Guide for Energy Storage Lithium Battery System

To ensure the safe and efficient operation of 215kWh/241kwh/261kwh/1.2MW lithium battery systems and maximize their service life (which can reach 10 years or more), please follow these maintenance recommendations.

Daily & Weekly Checks (Can be done via the monitoring system)

Most maintenance tasks can be performed through your system’s Energy Management System (EMS) or inverter monitoring platform (online App or web portal).

Monitor System Status: Log into the monitoring App daily or weekly to check the following key data:
  • SOC (State of Charge): Ensure the 51.2V Lithium ion battery level operates within your set parameters (typically recommended to be between 20% and 90% for daily use; avoid long-term storage at 100% charge or 0% discharge).
  • Charge/Discharge Power: Check if the system is charging and discharging at the expected power levels.
  • System Status: Look for any Warning or Fault messages. If any are present, please note them and contact your service provider promptly.
  • Daily Energy Production & Consumption: Monitor the solar panel output and the LifePo4 battery’s energy supply to understand system performance.

Monthly Checks (Physical Visual Inspection)

Perform an on-site physical inspection monthly to ensure a good operating environment.

Environmental Check:
  • Temperature: Is the ambient temperature within the battery enclosure or container within the manufacturer’s specified range (typically 0°C to 35°C)? Polish winters are cold. It is essential to ensure the installation environment has insulation and heating to prevent charging the battery at low temperatures (<0°C), as this can cause irreversible damage.
  • Ventilation: Check that the ventilation in the installation location is adequate and that vents are not blocked by debris. Air cooling systems require sufficient airflow.
  • Humidity: Check that the environment is dry, avoiding excessive moisture or rain ingress.
  • Cleanliness: Keep the equipment surfaces clean, free from excessive dust and debris, especially the solar panel surfaces. Clean panels significantly improve power generation efficiency.
Equipment Visual Inspection:
  • Lithium Battery Rack/Container: Check for any abnormal deformation, damage, or corrosion.
  • Cables & Connections: Visually inspect cables for wear, cracks, aging, or signs of overheating (such as discoloration or melting).
  • Inverter & Distribution Cabinet: Check for abnormal noise, unusual smells, or indicator alarm lights.

Quarterly or Semi-Annual Checks (Recommended Professional Maintenance)

It is recommended to have a more in-depth inspection by a professional technician every six months.

1.Tighten Connections: Have a technician check and tighten the DC and AC cable connection terminals. (Caution: This operation must be performed by a qualified professional after power shutdown – High Voltage Danger!).

    2. Cooling System Check:

    • If your system is Air-Cooled: Check that fans are working properly and clean dust filters on fans and vents.
    • If your system is Liquid-Cooled: Check coolant level, check pipes for leaks, and ensure the water pump is working correctly. (Please refer to the manufacturer’s manual).

    3.Data Log Analysis: Review historical system operation data logs with your service provider to analyze energy efficiency trends and battery health (SOH, State of Health).

    Annual Professional Maintenance

    Arrange a comprehensive system inspection and maintenance annually, performed by a professional service engineer. This includes, but is not limited to:

    • Internal Resistance and Insulation Testing: Perform professional tests on the battery clusters to assess health.
    • System Performance Calibration: Calibrate voltage and current sensors.
    • Comprehensive Software Updates: Upgrade the firmware for the Battery Management System (BMS), inverter, and EMS to access the latest features and performance optimizations.
    • Detailed Detailed Operation Report: Provide an annual system health report.

    Safety Precautions – Most Important!

    • Strictly prohibit placing or storing any flammable or explosive materials on or near the battery system.
    • Strictly prohibit opening the battery cabinet or touching high-voltage terminals without proper training.
    • Strictly prohibit using high-pressure water jets to clean the LifePO4 battery cabinet and inverter directly.
    • If you notice smoke, a unusual smell, open flame, or leakage from the system, please act immediately:
    • Remote Emergency Shutdown: Shut down the system via the monitoring App or emergency stop button (if installed).
    • Cut Off Power: If safe to do so, disconnect the system from the grid (disconnect the AC circuit breaker).
    • Contact Fire Department and Service Provider: Immediately contact the fire department and inform them it is a lithium battery fire. Also, notify your equipment service provider.
